Mrs. Barbara M. Carco, of Winchester, MA died of complications due to cancer while resting peacefully at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at the age of 74.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Mario P. Carco and family; daughter Mary Polito with her husband Gary, and their son Michael, daughter Teri Carco and her son Tom, cousin Elizabeth Bellino and her daughter Rose with fiancé Benjamin Seiwert, nephew Tony Siraco with his wife Patty, and their sons Domenic and Anthony. Barbara’s brother Richard Scribbins and his wife Judy, sister Kathy Beyer and her sons Bob Beyer with Ava, and Jeff Beyer his daughter Erin. She is preceded in death by Mario’s son Robert Carco, and her brother Kenny Scribbins.
Barbara was born and raised in the naval community of Norfolk, Virginia. Upon graduation from high school she moved to Boston where she lived in Dorchester and Chelsea. She shared fond memories of work as a typist, enthusiasm for the local music scene, and independent living as a young woman. She often told the story of falling for Mario the moment she heard his kind voice on the phone while at work one day, as Barbara worked with his older sister Betty. Barbara married Mario on July 14, 1975, joining him and his children in Belmont, where they would continue to live for several years before moving to Winchester. In her later years, Barbara found great joy in celebrating her faith at St. Eulalia’s Church, and the friendships she formed in the Winchester community.
Visiting hours will be at the Lane Funeral Home on Monday, December 17th from 6-8 PM, 760 Main St., Winchester, MA. A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18th at 11:30 AM at St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester, MA, with interment at Belmont Cemetery and collation to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested prayers and Masses be offered for her.
