Obituary for Jeffrey Mitchell "Mitch" Lortz

Jeffrey Mitchell "Mitch" Lortz passed away peacefully on August 10th after a 4-year battle with cancer. Mitch was the loving husband of Sydney (Bache) Lortz. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick Lortz; mother, Jacqueline Lortz; and father, Jeffrey Lortz; four grandparents, Brenda (MacWilliams) and Bradley Lortz, Barbara (Bresnahan) and Donald Huntress and aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dog, Meatloaf.

Mitch was born in Framingham, Mass, graduated from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Mitch passed away just shy of his 25th birthday. Although his life was not long in length, it was in significance. He possessed a unique ability to make fast and lasting impressions on everyone that he met. Mitch was independent and a true original in every sense. Mildly distinctive without being showy. Rebellious without being disobedient. He saw structure as guidelines not hard and fast rules. His creativity and ingenuity showed up as a kid playing Legos and flashed brilliantly as an adult in his blog. Mitch's battle with cancer revealed his true character - a relentless fighter who deflected pity from others and never had any for himself. He evolved into a young man who accepted his fate, but never let it define him, only ever using it as a platform to help others. https://seriouslycancer.com/
