Obituary for Leo D. Salvucci

SALVUCCI, Leo D. of Winchester, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (DeDominicis) Salvucci. Long time loving companion of the late Kathleen Haggerty. Dear brother of Bruno Salvucci of Lowell, Donata Thomas of Newton and the late Philomena Araujo of Waltham, Silvio Salvucci of South Weymouth, Rita Battista of Waban, and Angela Ahearn of Natick. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Leo graduated from Boston College in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He received a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Boston College 1958 and Cornell University in 1968. Following graduation from college he served in the US Marine Corps for 2 years. In 1956 he started his teaching career in the Math Department for Boston Latin School, where he remained until his retirement. During his tenure at Boston Latin he played hand ball regularly at the YMCA. Upon his retirement he enjoyed playing Scrabble, trips to Foxwoods to play poker and in recent years looked forward to his twice weekly poker games in Malden. He loved spending time with his family and truly enjoyed watching the family grow. He looked forward to Saturday morning coffee with his sister. Throughout his life journey he has made long and lasting friendships with all he met. Visiting hours will be held at the Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main St. (Rte. 38) WINCHESTER on Saturday, February 2nd from 9-10:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery.
