Obituary for Edward J Duffy
Ed, 92, a Winchester resident for 55 years, died peacefully on Sept
11 at Arnold House in Stoneham. He was the husband of Jeanne (Egan)
Duffy for 64 years, loving father of Janet Wilhelm and husband,
Tim, of Poway, CA; Carol Brunstad and husband, Bill, of Atlanta,
GA; the late Edward J. Duffy III; Susan Duffy and partner, Larry Dukes of Rye, NH; David Duffy and wife, Julie, of Denver, CO; Maura Duffy of Stoneham, MA; and
Chris Duffy and wife, Peggy Clements, of Cold Spring, NY. Proud
Grandfather of Amanda, Geoff, Jesse, John, Megan and husband Josiah,
Peter, and Rebecca. He was pre-deceased by his brother Arthur and sister
Helen Donalds. Ed was a graduate of Arlington High School, 1943, and
Northeastern College and Law School, 1951. He served in the 2nd Marine
Division in WWII and was on the island of Saipan and Okinawa. He was
part of the occupying force in Japan and was stationed in Nagasaki.
After the war and law school, he served as Assistant District
Attorney, Middlesex County, Special Assistant Attorney General for the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Assistant Corporation Counsel for
the City of Boston. He was the founder and president of Massachusetts
Independent Bankers Assoc. He also organized and founded the Suburban
National Bank of Arlington in 1962. Visiting hours will be held at the Lane Funeral Home 760 Main St. (Rte.38)WINCHESTER on Sunday September 16th from 2 thru 5pm followed by a funeral service to be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11am. Interment Wildwood Cemetery
