Ann Morton Bannister
August 24, 1931 - July 8, 2018

Ann Morton Bannister, 86, of Winchester, MA and Squirrel Island, ME died on July 8th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA.
She was born in Boston on August 24, 1931, to John Dwight and Dorothy Shurtleff Morton. She grew up in Weston and Wayland, MA, graduated from Miss Porters School in CT, and attended college at the Rhode Island School of Design until 1952 when she married Richard Bannister.
Ann and Richard settled in Winchester in 1953, where they purchased and renovated a 100-year-old carriage house, raised their family, and lived for over 60 years.
Ann was an active member of many organizations over the years including the First Congregational Church of Winchester, the Winchester Hospital Winton Club, the Squirrel Island Association and the Squirrel Island Chapel Committee.

An accomplished artist, Ann worked for Gilders Workshop in Winchester for many years painting and restoring glass panels for banjo and Girandole clocks. She also created many beautiful watercolor paintings achieving membership in the New England Watercolor Society.

Ann spent summers on Squirrel Island where she enjoyed all that the Island had to offer including tennis, boating, gardening, and serving as a volunteer librarian at the Squirrel Island Library.

Friends and family will remember Ann for her cheery personality and wonderful sense of humor.

She is predeceased by her husband, Richard, brother, John Morton, and survived by her brother Jeremy Morton, MD and children, Richard Bannister, Jr., Mary (& Michael) Sullivan, Dwight (& Lisa) Bannister, Liza (& John) Paonessa, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July, 16 at 2:00pm at the First Congregational Church in Winchester, MA.
