Obituary for Lawrence T Smith

Lawrence Talbott Smith, “Larry”, life long resident of Winchester, Massachusetts passed peacefully at his home on April 16, 2018. He was born in the Winchester Hospital on April 24th 1927. A graduate of Winchester High School in 1944. He attended Marlboro College in Vermont after being honorably discharged from the army. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring, he was the Financial Officer for the Mass Law Reform Institute in Boston. He enjoyed participating in local theater productions and was an avid tennis player. He gave years of service to the town of Winchester culminating in Chairman of the Board of Selectman in 1976.

Immense appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers from Care Dimensions Palliative Care and also his sister in law, Geraldine.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Lucius Smith Sr. of Winchester and his brother and sister in law Nancy & Lucius Smith Jr of Hingham MA. Larry was the widower of Vera J Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Sa Smith; six children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Winchester Unitarian Society at 478 Main Street; Winchester, MA 01890 on Saturday April 28th at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Salvation Army. His kind heart will always be loved and never forgotten.
