Donato Gattineri, Loving Husband, Father, Winchester Businessman and WW2 D-Day Veteran
GATTINERI, Donato Of Winchester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 15, 2017, he was 94 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Anna (DeVellis) Gattineri. Loving father of Camille Ferazzi and her husband Paul of Boston, Daniel Gattineri and his wife Cathy of Winchester, Ann Muir and her husband Donald of Winchester, Gloria Foss and her husband Nathan of North Reading, Anthony Gattineri and his wife Lisa of Winchester, Paula Gattineri-Pacitto of Medford and Mary Gattineri of Winchester. Cherished grandfather of Marc, Ryan, Michelle, Joseph, Amanda, Michael, Alexandra, Lori, Linda, Marie Rose, Don, Andrea, Jacqueline, Christopher, Daniel Paul, Jason Gregory, great grandson Marc Francis and brother of the late Joseph Gattineri. Born in Italy in 1923 to parents John and Camilla, Donato immigrated to the United States at the young age of twelve. After attending Winchester High School, Donato enlisted in the United States Army and became a member of the 79th Reconnaissance Troop and served as a Tech-5 scout in World War II. Donato bravely fought in Normandy on D Day. He also fought valiantly in battles in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. After his honorable discharge Donato, along with his father and brother, opened “Fashion Clothiers” in Winchester, which he operated with his family for 65 years. Donato served on the board of directors of the Winchester Hospital, was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish, the Winchester Rotary Club and the Son’s of Italy. A Memorial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., WINCHESTER on Friday November 17th at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery Winchester.
