Nicholas T.  Russo
RUSSO, Nicholas T. of Winchester, MA passed away peacefully on April 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. In his final weeks, he was blessed to have visits and calls by the many family members and friends whom he touched throughout his very memorable life.
Beloved husband of the late Phyllis M. (Quaranto) Russo. Loving son of the late Mary (Sordillo) and Thomas Russo. Devoted father of Anne Lindmark her husband, Kevin of Winchester and their 4 children, Denise (Fiorentino), her husband Dave, Joseph, his wife Veronica, David, & Matthew; Dr. Thomas Russo his wife, Cheryl of Weston and their 4 children, Ashley, Alexandra, Elizabeth, & Thomas; Christine Russo of Lexington; Mary Casey her husband, George of Winchester and their 5 children, Christine, George Jr, Julie, Samuel, & Grace; Lisa Lattari her husband, Stephan of Andover and their 3 children, Michael, Joseph, & Stephan Jr; Joseph Russo his wife, Donna of Burlington and their 4 children, Maria, Nicholas II, Gina, & Anthony; Paula Sughrue her husband, Paul of Winchester and their 4 children, Albert, Madeline, Philip, & Peter; Mark Russo his wife, Kimberly of Leicester and their 3 children Christian, Ryan, & Alex, and the late Theresa Ruble her husband, Kevin of Woburn and their 2 children, Jaclyn & Catherine. Cherished “Pa” of 5 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Paula Lucido and her husband, James of Londonderry, NH and adored by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Nick was from Somerville, MA, he attended Boston College High School and Boston College, before enlisting in the United States Navy. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander before he left the Navy. He returned from being stationed abroad to marry Phyllis and raise their 9 children. He would rise to become Treasurer of the Mitre Corporation of Bedford, MA, where he worked for over 25 years and made many lifelong friends. Nick was an active member of the St. Mary Parish community in Winchester, serving in many ministries including teaching Catholic Religious Education for 56 years, the Right to Life Ministry, an Extraordinary Minister, the Adoration of the Sacrament Group, the Rosary Prayer Group, an acolyte and daily communicant at the 9:00 a.m. mass. In 2009 he received the Companion on the Journey Award from the Archdiocese of Boston, presented by Cardinal Sean O’Malley, for his many years of service to the youth of the Diocese.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, from 4-8 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester, MA 01890. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester, MA.
