HESS, Barbara P. (Palmer) of Winchester passed away peacefully on June 3, 2015 at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Hess to whom she was married for 60 years. She was the loving mother of Joanne Hess MacKay and her husband R. Bruce of Errol, NH, Jane Hess Macdonald and husband Alan G. of Winchester, and Helen Hess Ryan and husband William M. of Pittsfield. Barbara had 8 cherished grandchildren, Leslie B. Washburn, Alan J. Macdonald, Robert H. Cuff, A. Ryan MacKay, John D. MacKay, Daniel B. Macdonald, Michael J. Cunniff, Brian S. Cunniff and 12 great grandchildren. She was raised in Rochester, NH and Melrose, MA where she attended High School and attended Boston University for two years. After raising her children Barbara worked for many years at the Winchester Savings Bank,sold real estate for Century 21, volunteered at the Jenks Senior Center and the Parish of the Epiphany. The last 5 years of her life were spent at New Horizons in Woburn, MA where she enjoyed her hobbies of knitting, crocheting, playing bridge, spending time with her many friends and family there. A funeral service will be held at the Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church St., Winchester on Tuesday, June 9th at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
